What You Can Expect the Day Of the Event
What You Can Expect
Plan your TEDxMontclair day
1. Arrive early. The day of November 5th, we encourage you to arrive at 9:30am when registration opens. Arriving early means you can have some breakfast and will ensure you get registered and into a seat before the program begins. Because of the webcast, the event will start at 10:15am sharp. Anyone arriving late will have to wait until a break in the speakers to be seated. The event runs until 3:30pm.
2. Talk to strangers and don’t miss a thing. Plan to stay through the entire day. TEDx is teeming with amazing people. Both speakers and attendees are every bit as extraordinary. As a result, chance encounters at TEDx often lead to new ideas, projects, perspectives, companies… They’re as essential to the experience as the stage program itself.
3. Leave your laptop at home. Cell phones and laptops are a big distraction –we don’t allow cell phone use in the theater during talks. Blogging is permitted from the back of the venue only.
4. Get familiar with the program guide. Our schedule is tight, so speaker intros will be short. Reading speaker bios online or in our program and in advance will enrich your event experience.
5. Let us help you. Our staff will do their best to answer any questions and solve any problems. Pre-conference, contact us via email at tedxmontclair@gmail.com. On-site, visit our registration desk, or ask anyone wearing a TEDxMontclair Ambassador badge.
6. Blog with us. Or … not. If you plan to blog or tweet, please use @tedxmontclair in your tweets or hashtag #tedxmontclair. But do not feel at all obligated to live-blog from TEDx. TEDx is best experienced in the moment.
7. Have fun! This day is for you to meet, connect, inspire and create.
WHAT IS TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDxMontclair, where x=independently organized TED event.
At our TEDx Montclair event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
